The Open Connection — Beta Terms of Use
Beta version — pending legal review
Effective date: October 8, 2026
The Open Connection (TOC) is a community app for meeting people, sharing experiences, and discovering and organizing events. These Terms explain the ground rules for using our beta web app.
TOC is operated by Tommy Jedrzejczyk, doing business as The Open Connection (“we,” “us,” or “our”). You can reach us at [email protected]. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
1. Joining TOC
You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these Terms. The beta is available in the United States. Minors may not use TOC or appear in member photos.
When you create an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use the app.
Give us accurate account information, keep your login secure, and tell us if you suspect someone has accessed your account without permission. Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent your age, or use someone else’s photos without permission. If an account represents more than one adult, each person must agree to participate and to the use of their information and photos. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account.
2. What beta means
TOC is still being tested. Features may change, stop working, or be removed. We may need to pause the app, reset test data, or end the beta. Keep your own copies of anything important. We will give advance notice of significant interruptions or resets when reasonably possible.
There is no charge to use the beta app. If we introduce paid membership later, we will explain the price, billing, cancellation, and other terms before you choose to subscribe. Joining the beta does not enroll you in a paid plan or authorize future charges.
Event tickets, travel, food, and other purchases may have separate charges and terms. An invitation or RSVP does not guarantee admission.
3. Respect, consent, and discretion
Treat people with respect. Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn. A profile, message, RSVP, or attendance at an event is never permission for physical contact, sexual activity, photography, or sharing someone’s private information.
Do not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, bully, discriminate against, or pressure anyone.
- Share intimate images without consent, secretly record people, or reveal someone’s identity, location, relationship, or community participation without permission.
- Share sexual content involving minors, exploitation, trafficking, or other illegal content.
- Use TOC to arrange paid sexual services, commit fraud, send scams or spam, or promote illegal activity.
- Post content you do not have permission to use, including copyrighted material or photos of other people.
- Scrape member data, bypass privacy controls, evade a block or suspension, or interfere with the app’s security.
Nudity is allowed in photos and messages, subject to these rules. When you mark a post as explicit, the app asks you to confirm that everyone shown is 18 or older and agreed to the photo being shared on TOC. Tapping Post records that confirmation. It does not establish another person’s age or consent. Everyone shown in nude or explicit content must be 18 or older and must have agreed to both the content being created and its sharing with the chosen audience. Do not send someone unwanted nude or explicit content.
These rules apply to profiles, photos, albums, messages, event listings, and conduct connected with TOC events.
4. Your content and our permission to use it
You keep ownership of the content you share. You give us permission to store, copy, format, and display it as needed to operate TOC, deliver it to the audience you choose, maintain backups, and address safety or legal issues. This permission is nonexclusive, worldwide, and royalty-free; it does not transfer ownership to us.
We will not use your private messages, private album photos, or identifiable member content in our public marketing without separate permission.
This permission ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except for limited retention described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting content cannot remove screenshots, downloads, or other copies that another person already made.
You may send suggestions or beta feedback. We may use those suggestions to improve TOC without owing payment or credit. That does not give us permission to publish your private information or unrelated content.
5. Privacy when connecting with others
Choose carefully what you share and with whom. Use the visibility and sharing controls available in the app. A private album limits access through TOC; it cannot prevent a person with access from taking a screenshot or keeping a copy.
Members must respect the audience chosen by the person sharing. Do not redistribute private content without permission. Blocking someone does not undo information they already saw or saved. The Privacy Policy explains the app’s specific visibility and blocking behavior.
6. Events and meeting in person
You decide whether to contact someone or attend an event. We do not guarantee another member’s identity, intentions, conduct, or safety.
Check event details, use your judgment, and follow venue rules and local laws. Hosts are responsible for accurate listings, appropriate permissions, and clearly explaining charges, cancellation rules, age restrictions, and who is organizing the event. Attendees are responsible for their own conduct.
Unless an event is expressly identified as organized by TOC, the listed host organizes it independently. TOC does not sell tickets or process payments for events in the beta. If a host charges for anything, the host is responsible for explaining the price, refunds, and who is organizing, and any payment is between you and the host. These app Terms are not a substitute for an event-specific agreement.
TOC is not an emergency service. If there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
7. Reports and moderation
To report a post or member, open the three-dot menu on the post or profile and choose Report. You can also contact [email protected] about a safety concern. To block a member, open the three-dot menu on their profile and choose Block.
We may review reported content and relevant account activity, remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts to address violations, safety risks, fraud, or legal requirements. We do not promise to review every interaction or detect every violation.
When reasonably possible, we will explain an account restriction. We may withhold details if sharing them could put someone at risk, compromise an investigation, or violate the law. You can ask us to reconsider at [email protected].
For a copyright concern, contact [email protected] with a description of the work, where the disputed content appears, your contact details, and why you believe the use is unauthorized.
8. Leaving TOC
You can request deletion of your account through Settings > Account > Delete account or at app.theopenconnection.com/settings/delete after you sign in. You first verify your identity and then confirm the deletion. You do not need to type “DELETE.” Removing TOC from your home screen, signing out, or clearing your browser data does not delete your account. Our Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes, what we may need to retain, and how long that takes.
We may stop providing the beta or close an account for the reasons described above. Terms about content already shared, privacy, disputes, and legal responsibility continue to apply where needed after an account closes.
9. The app and legal responsibility
We give you permission to use TOC for your own lawful use while you follow these Terms. TOC’s name, branding, software, and designs belong to us or our licensors. Do not copy, resell, or misuse them.
To the extent the law allows, the beta is provided “as is” and “as available.” We cannot promise uninterrupted service, error-free features, or a particular connection or outcome. We are not responsible for another member’s conduct simply because you met through TOC.
Nothing in these Terms excludes responsibility that cannot legally be excluded, limits your nonwaivable consumer rights, or excuses our own unlawful conduct.
10. Changes and questions
We may update these Terms as TOC develops. We will post the revised version and effective date and notify you in the app or by email about material changes before they take effect, unless an urgent legal or safety reason requires a faster change. We will ask for renewed agreement when required. If you do not agree to an update, you can stop using TOC and delete your account.
If a dispute arises, contact [email protected] so we can try to resolve it. If one provision cannot be enforced, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
